Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting a Secondary Supply Teacher to support schools in Lowestoft and surrounding East Suffolk. You will deliver engaging lessons for KS3/KS4, adapt to varied settings, and uphold high standards of pupil progress.

Whether you prefer day-to-day cover or fixed-term placements, you’ll benefit from a supportive local consultant and the ability to set your availability around personal commitments. DBS and QTS are expected.

Qualifications

• QTS or QTLS or recognised UK teaching qualification.
• Ability to manage diverse classrooms and maintain high standards of pupil progress.
• Commitment to safeguarding and working within school policies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, structured lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment with effective behaviour management.
• Leave clear notes for regular class teachers after day-to-day cover.
• For long-term roles: plan, assess, and contribute to department meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, structured lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, maintaining high expectations for learning and pupil progress.

• Create a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment using effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.

• Adapt learning delivery to accommodate students with diverse learning styles and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

• Leave clear handover notes for regular class teachers when fulfilling day-to-day cover assignments.

• For long-term roles: plan, assess, and mark work, participate in department meetings, and contribute to parents' evenings as required.

What We Look For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (or recognised UK teaching qualification).

• Strong classroom management skills and the confidence to step into unfamiliar secondary settings with ease.

• Subject knowledge across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in your specialist area (e.g., English, Maths, Science, Humanities, MFL, Creative Arts, PE, etc.).

• An adaptable, punctual, and professional approach with excellent communication skills.

• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
