Job summary

Runwood Homes is seeking a warm and motivated Second Chef to join its Hospitality team. The role focuses on delivering hotel and restaurant standard meals to residents, without split shifts or long hours, while maintaining high quality and person-centred care.

You will support the Head Chef in their absence, ensure dietary needs are met, and uphold food safety and hygiene standards across all meals and services. The role offers induction and ongoing training within a supportive care environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering environment.
• Understanding of dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Ability to implement portion control and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all stages of food preparation meet high standards for residents’ well-being.
• Cook and serve meals in line with the menu and company requirements.
• Comply with Food Safety & Hygiene Regulations in England (and reference NI regulations where applicable).
• Maintain quality of meals in terms of presentation and taste.
• Maintain portion control to minimise waste.
• Meet individual dietary requirements by following recipes and adapting dishes.
• Ensure safe, healthy, and efficient working environment through proper systems and checks.
• Store all food and items correctly and monitor stock with rotation.
• Deputise for Head Chef as required.
