Job summary

Runwood Homes is seeking a warm, motivated Second Chef to join our Hospitality team in England. You will support the Head Chef, deliver hotel and restaurant standard meals, and ensure high-quality, person-centred dining for our residents.

Responsibilities include recipe and portion control, safe food handling, and stock management to keep waste low. The role offers NVQ funding, comprehensive induction, career progression opportunities, and a focus on wellbeing and quality in every dish.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering environment.
• Good understanding of dietary requirements.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 and NVQ Level 2 preferred.

Responsibilities

• To ensure that all stages of food preparation are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring the well-being of residents.
• To ensure the cooking and serving of meals are in accordance with the menu and company requirements.
• To ensure compliance with Food Safety & Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 and relevant regulations.
• To ensure the quality of meals in terms of presentation and taste.
• To maintain portion control procedures and minimize waste.
• To meet individual dietary requirements by following recipes and charts, or adapting dishes if required.
• To monitor stock, perform stock rotation, and place orders as needed.
• To deputise for the Head Chef when required.
