Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Second Chef to join our dedicated team in delivering hotel and restaurant standards within a care home setting. You will assist the Head Chef with nutritious, flavoursome menus while tailoring options for residents, ensuring quality, balance and resident satisfaction.

We value warm, passionate chefs, strong HACCP knowledge and the ability to engage with residents to create appetising meals.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with wellbeing of residents.
• Proven cook qualifications (City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal food.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen environment.
• Work within budget and cost controls.
• Complete regular audits.
• Manage stock control.
