Job summary

Runwood Homes is seeking a Second Chef to join its Hospitality team in England. You will support the Head Chef and lead in their absence, delivering hotel and restaurant standard meals to residents without split shifts. The role emphasizes quality, dietary awareness, and person‑centred care.

Applicants should have catering experience, a Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate, and ideally NVQ Level 2. Runwood Homes offers induction, training, progression, and a range of staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering environments.
• Understanding of dietary and nutritional requirements and ability to implement them.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certification held.
• NVQ Level 2 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all stages of food preparation meet high standards for residents’ well‑being.
• Cook and serve meals in line with menu and company requirements.
• Comply with Food Safety & Hygiene Regulations (England) 2013.
• Maintain quality of meals in terms of presentation and taste.
• Maintain portion control and minimise waste.
• Meet individual dietary requirements by following quantities, charts and recipes.
• Maintain systems and checks for a safe, healthy and efficient kitchen.
• Store all food and items correctly and monitor stock rotation.
• Deputise for Head Chef when required.
