Job summary

Nakilat in Fleet, UK, seeks a seasoned Marine Training and Development Lead to manage seafarers’ professional development, certifications, and career progression. You will drive training strategies, mentor cadets, and coordinate with internal teams and external providers to ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires shipboard and fleet experience, strong stakeholder skills, and a proactive approach to sustaining high training standards and performance across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 48 months sailing on Tankers with at least 6 months in a managerial role.
  • Familiarity with maritime regulations, certification systems and training practices.
  • Ability to design, implement and manage training aligned with STCW and company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Handle Training Needs Analysis for seafarer ranks and roles.
  • Maintain a training matrix covering STCW, company requirements and CBT.
  • Develop and maintain individual training plans for seafarers.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external training providers to schedule training.
  • Monitor training completion, renewals and compliance.
  • Design and implement cadet mentorship framework onboard.
  • Track cadet progress against objectives and assessments.
  • Design career progression paths and manage promotion processes.
  • Provide career counseling and debriefings post-deployment.
  • Oversee appraisal processes and annual performance cycles.
  • Evaluate training centers for quality, relevance and accreditation.
  • Lead vessel visits and Fleet Officer Meetings to improve training effectiveness.
  • Support MPD initiatives and other duties as required.
