We are actively looking to engage shipping, freight forwarding professionals with a passion for sea & air freight forwarding for a new role as a Sea & Air Freight Manager in Castle Donington, Leicestershire on a hybrid basis!

My client is a SME freight forwarding business, with huge ambitions for growth, in the freight & shipping industry. You will be joining a fast‑pace environment assisting in finding logistics solutions for some of the world's largest industrial, retail & FMCG based customers. My client focuses on searching air freight, sea freight & road freight solutions, which are both cost effective & time sensitive.

Job Description

As a Sea & Air Freight Manager you will report to the Freight Branch Director on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas for responsibility across the Castle Donington office in Leicestershire:

• Managing a small team of 10-12 sea / ocean and air freight forwarders - including their training, development and engagement.
• Overseeing the team responsible for preparing sea & air freight pricing & customer quotations - informing about the freight prices, port charges, cost of special documents, insurance prices as well as prices for handling the goods.
• Overseeing the team responsible for Documents of Operations and transportation (booking, airway bills and loading confirmation).
• Strategic analysis surrounding the nominating carriers, airlines and GSA in line with rates, OTIF value and customer requirements in line with a variety of INCOTerms.
• Customer rate analysis on route guidance, whilst monitoring and securing allocations and operation efficiency.
• Develop and build relationships to ensure a high level of customer service is provided to clients with a knowledge of the clients business requirements.
• Key Account Management of current and new account onboarding across a variety of trade lanes and customer industry.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have an expansive background in multi-modal freight forwarding (either road, air or sea freight). The ideal Sea & Air Freight Manager will have the following skills and experience:

• 4+ year's experience in freight forwarding in any mode of freight (ideally focused on sea and air freight).
• Experience leading or managing teams within a freight forwarding or shipping environment.
• Experience of pricing, quotation and planning customer deliveries across road, air & sea freight.
• Desirable experience of customs compliance.
• Excellent customer service and key accounts experience.
• Knowledge of INCOTerms is advantageous.
• Commutable to Castle Donington, Leciestershire on a hybrid basis.
