Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a motivated Science Technician to join the Science Department of a successful, oversubscribed secondary school in Derbyshire. The role supports teaching across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, with a strong emphasis on practical science skills and high standards of safety.

Key duties include preparing equipment and materials, setting up and clearing away experiments, maintaining stock and equipment, supporting practical lessons, and ensuring laboratories are safe

Qualifications

• Background in science (academic or practical).
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Good attention to detail and strong health & safety awareness.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team in a busy school.
• Previous science technician experience is desirable, but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment, materials and chemicals for practical lessons.
• Set up and clear away experiments in line with health and safety guidelines.
• Maintain, organise and order stock and equipment.
• Support practical lessons where required.
• Ensure laboratories are safe, clean and compliant with current regulations.
• Assist with risk assessments and safe storage of chemicals.
