Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a reliable Science Technician for a secondary school in Chester. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm (Fri 8:30am–4:00pm).

You will support the science department by preparing practical lessons, maintaining equipment and ensuring laboratories are ready for use throughout the day. The ideal candidate will have experience in a school laboratory, a solid understanding of COSHH and laboratory safety, and the ability to work independently and with

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Science Technician, ideally within a secondary school.
• Good understanding of laboratory equipment and practical science.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and COSHH.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to prioritise tasks and work independently.
• Practical, dependable and confident working as part of a science department.
• Experience with GCSE practical work would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organise equipment and materials for Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons.
• Set up practical experiments and demonstrations.
• Clear away and maintain equipment following lessons.
• Keep laboratories and preparation areas clean, safe and well organised.
• Monitor stock and assist with ordering resources.
• Support teachers with practical activities where needed.
• Follow COSHH and all relevant health and safety procedures.
