Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a practical and motivated Caretaker in Newham, East London. The role supports daily upkeep of school buildings and grounds to ensure security and readiness for pupils and staff each day.

The successful candidate will maintain facilities, assist with room set-ups for lessons and events, and work closely with the site team. DBS check will be completed as part of the appointment process.

Responsibilities

• Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Open and close the school site and check security arrangements.

• Maintain outdoor areas and report grounds maintenance needs.
• Liaise with contractors and arrange access when required.
• Report hazards, damage and urgent repairs to the appropriate manager.

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Salary: £31,250 per annum

An established school in Newham is looking to appoint a practical and motivated Caretaker to support the day-to-day upkeep of its buildings and grounds. You'll be a key member of the site team, helping ensure the school remains secure, well maintained and ready for pupils and staff each day.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Good communication skills and a professional approach are important, as you'll interact with staff, visitors and contractors throughout the day. Appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
