Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a reliable School Caretaker to support maintenance, security, and daily upkeep of a school in Norfolk. The role covers general site duties, minor repairs, and helping ensure a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, organised, and able to work independently while responding to school staff needs. Prior caretaking experience is beneficial, and safeguarding/background checks will be completed.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or practical experience is advantageous.
• Good general DIY and problem-solving skills.
• Strong reliability and time-management skills.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding and background checks.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Assist with opening and securing the premises as required.
• Carry out routine checks of buildings, facilities, and outdoor areas.
• Complete minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Monitor site safety and report faults or hazards.
• Maintain tidy and accessible communal areas.
• Assist with deliveries and moving furniture or equipment.
• Help prepare rooms for meetings and school activities.
• Follow health and safety procedures and safeguarding policies.
