Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a School Caretaker for a King’s Lynn school in the UK. You will maintain buildings and grounds to a good standard, carry out checks, assist with repairs, and help keep premises safe, tidy and ready for daily use.

The role requires practical maintenance skills, reliability and the ability to work independently, with a focus on health and safety and safeguarding compliance. A welcoming, well-run environment for students and staff is a priority.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking, facilities or general maintenance experience is beneficial.
• Good awareness of health and safety requirements.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Flexible and proactive approach to daily responsibilities.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding and background checks.
• The right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs around the school.
• Inspect buildings, facilities and outdoor areas for maintenance concerns.
• Assist with opening and securing the premises as required.
• Ensure corridors, entrances and communal areas remain safe and tidy.
• Report significant defects, hazards and repair requirements.
• Support the setup and movement of furniture and equipment.
• Assist with deliveries and the safe storage of supplies.
• Monitor site security and report any concerns.
• Follow health and safety procedures and school policies.
• Support contractors and external maintenance teams when required.
