Job summary

Education Authority is seeking a part-time Cook to join a school kitchen. You will assist in preparing and cooking meals, ensuring hygiene and safety, and supporting the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor.

The role includes supervising staff and helping with menu planning and stock management to deliver a high quality service to pupils and staff. Experience in a catering environment is essential, with HACCP knowledge and willingness to undertake training.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent, or two years’ catering experience.
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety practices.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all cooking activities for meals, including menu prep and portion control.
• Record keeping and hygiene, health and safety in kitchen, including temperature recording.
• Supervise other staff in whole or part of kitchen operations.
• Handle service point operations and transported meals as required.
• Assist with meal planning, stock-taking, stores/fridges, and deliveries.
• General kitchen duties: washing up, cleaning, and equipment prep.
• Assist in promoting services to parents, principals and customers to increase uptake.
• Adhere to safeguarding and school policies, and contribute to a positive ethos.
