Job summary

Education Authority in Antrim-Ca rrickfergus is seeking a part-time cook to assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor with meal preparation and cooking at Carrickfergus Academy Senior Campus. You will support menu planning, portion control, dietary meals, and event catering while maintaining high hygiene standards.

You will help supervise staff, handle stock, assist with administrative duties, and contribute to promoting the service to parents and customers for increased uptake.

Qualifications

• Hold either (A) or (B): NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or higher relevant qualification.
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment.
• Willingness to undertake job related training.

Responsibilities

• Skilled cooking activities connected with the full range of meals (assist with menu preparation, portion control, special dietary meals, catering for events).
• Assist with record keeping, hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen including temperature recording.
• Direction and/or shared supervision of other employees.
• Operate service points including transported meals.
• Stock-taking, planning meals, stores and fridge organisation, deliveries receipt.
• General kitchen management in absence of Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor.
• Training of staff and cash handling where appropriate.
• Assist in promoting the service to parents, principals and customers to increase uptake.
