Job summary

Education Authority is seeking a Catering Assistant to support the daily operation of the school catering unit under supervision. You will help with food preparation, simple cooking, set up dining areas and serve meals while upholding hygiene standards.

You will assist with promoting meals to pupils and parents, maintain contact with the central kitchen where applicable, and ensure the dining environment is clean and compliant with regulations. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Basic preparation of food and beverages with appropriate equipment.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks including transported meals.
• Assisting with the promotion of meals to pupils, parents and staff.
• Maintaining regular contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Complete duties to comply with acts, codes of practice and other legal requirements.
• Complete administration and duties within the grade and competence.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Set out dining areas and service points, lay tables and arrange seating.
• Wash up, clear away equipment and maintain dining room and kitchen areas.
• Record temperatures for control purposes and ensure premises are secured.
• Carry out duties in line with school values and policies.
