Job summary

The Education Authority is seeking a Catering Assistant to actively participate in the daily operation of the catering unit under the guidance of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. The role emphasizes teamwork to provide a hygienic, efficient service and to promote sales within the unit.

You will support basic food preparation, simple cooking, dining area setup and serving meals, while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards for pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages using appropriate equipment.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points and serving meals.
• Assist with promotion of meals to pupils, parents, and staff.
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and temperatures in kitchen and dining areas.
• Prepare dining area: setting tables, laying cutlery and water jugs.
• Complete duties including washing up and cleaning floors and walls.
• Record temperatures for control purposes and ensure premises security.
• Carry out duties in line with statutory requirements and codes of practice.
• Complete administration and carry out duties across roles within competence.
• Promote and adhere to the school values and ethos.
