Job summary

Education Authority is seeking a Catering Assistant to actively participate in the daily operation of the school catering unit under the direction of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. You will work as part of a team to provide a hygienic, efficient service while promoting meals to pupils and their families.

Responsibilities include basic food preparation, simple cooking, setting dining areas, serving meals, maintaining contact with the central kitchen, and ensuring cleanliness and compliance

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks
• Simple cooking, including reconstitution of prepared food
• Organising and controlling food service points
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and principal
• Maintaining contact with central kitchen regarding service delivery
• Preparing the dining area (setting tables, cutlery, etc.)
• Completing general kitchen and dining room duties including washing up and clearing away equipment
• Cleaning kitchen/servery, dining room and equipment
• Recording temperatures for control purposes
• Carrying out duties to comply with Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice
• Carrying out duties in standard working conditions and completing administration
• Promoting and adhering to the school's values/ethos
• Note: cleaning of room when part used for dual purpose, and other duties as assigned
