Job summary

QA is seeking an IT Support Technician Apprentice at Beechwood Park School in Hertfordshire. You’ll support a range of IT systems, from workstations to AV equipment, assisting staff and pupils with setup, training and problem resolution. You’ll work 40 hours weekly, interacting with teachers and students to keep IT services reliable.

Excellent IT fundamentals, strong communication, and a proactive, reliable approach are essential for this role within a busy school environment.

Qualifications

• GCSEs at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject.
• Maths and English at grades 3+ (D or above).
• No existing higher-level qualification in a similar subject.

Responsibilities

• Handle frontline queries via email, helpdesk and phone.
• Maintain and update requests in the ticketing system.
• Install and maintain hardware and peripherals.
• Keep an up-to-date IT equipment inventory.
• Assist expansion of network infrastructure (switches, cabling, wifi).
• Perform admin tasks like data backups and antivirus scans.
• Install, maintain and upgrade software.
• Support staff and pupils with IT setup and prep.
• Provide customer-focused technical support and training.
• Assist with AV setup for lectures and presentations.
