Job summary

Walpole Highway Primary School and West Walton School in Wisbech are seeking a reliable caretaker to join our friendly team. The role is part-time (35 hours per week) on a fixed-term contract until 31 August 2027, with term-time plus 4 weeks. You will open/secure premises, carry out maintenance, and ensure a clean, safe site.

Salary is Scale C5, £13.70 per hour (£26,427 FTE). Interview date to be confirmed; start date to be discussed at interview.

Qualifications

• Experience in a caretaking or facilities role is essential.
• Ability to follow health and safety procedures and guidelines.
• Practical, proactive, able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises each day.
• Carrying out daily maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensuring the site is clean, safe and well-presented.
• Managing heating, lighting and security systems.
• Overseeing site safety checks and risk assessments.
• Monitoring on-site contractors and assisting with deliveries.
• Maintaining playgrounds, gardens and outdoor areas.
• Responding to emergency maintenance issues.
