Job summary

Chartwells, part of Compass Group UK&I, is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead our catering and service operations on a 30‑hour-per-week basis. You will oversee kitchens and service counters to deliver outstanding food experiences.

You’ll supervise culinary and service teams, manage inventories and budgets, monitor KPIs, and uphold Health & Safety standards. The role requires at least two years’ catering experience and relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of catering experience.
• Experience managing teams in a similar role.
• NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 and 2.
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare delicious food to the highest standards.
• Supervise culinary and catering teams to ensure impeccable food and customer service.
• Oversee the efficiency of in-unit catering operations, including inventories and budgets.
• Communicate regularly with line manager to monitor KPIs and targets.
• Represent Compass Group UK&I and maintain a positive brand image.
• Identify opportunities for new food or service concepts to drive sales.
• Coordinate between customers and teams to exceed expectations.
• Support and train teams, leading from the front.
• Implement and review Health & Safety standards across all teams.
