Job summary

Croydon High School - GDST in South Croydon, Surrey, is seeking a reliable Caretaker to join the Premises team. This full-time role supports a busy campus of 20 acres, ensuring safety, security and a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

You will handle site security, general maintenance, room and event set-ups, porterage, deliveries, waste management and routine health and safety checks, and you will help maintain sports facilities and the swimming pool.

Employer Croydon High School - GDST Location South Croydon, Surrey Contract Type Permanent Hours Full Time Salary £29,730 per annum

Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 12.00pm-8.00pm

The Role

Croydon High School is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Caretaker to join its friendly and experienced Premises team.

This is a varied, hands-on role helping to ensure the school's 20-acre campus remains safe, secure, well maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

Working across the school, you will support a broad range of premises duties including site security, general maintenance and repairs, room and event set-ups, porterage, deliveries, waste management and routine health and safety checks. You will also help maintain the school's sports facilities and swimming pool and support the smooth running of school events and lettings.

You will need practical handyperson/DIY skills, good organisational and communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of health and safety, security procedures and routine preventative maintenance is important, alongside a positive, flexible and professional approach. Previous premises caretaking experience, ideally within an education setting, is required.

You will be joining an established and supportive department where there are opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues. The school also offers regular opportunities for paid overtime to support its programme of after-school events and activities.
