Job summary

Skipton Girls’ High School is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join its Facilities Team. This part-time position covers 27 hours per week, primarily 2:30pm–8:00pm Mon, and 2:00pm–8:00pm Tue–Fri, with a 30 minute break. The role focuses on safety, security, cleanliness, and maintenance across the school site.

The post is based in Skipton, North Yorkshire, with DBS and safeguarding requirements. The Trust offers staff benefits and development opportunities within a supportive academy

Responsibilities

  • Opening and securing the school site in accordance with procedures.
  • Carrying out routine inspections of the buildings and grounds to ensure safety and maintenance.
  • Undertaking minor repairs and caretaking tasks across the site.
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, defects and health and safety concerns.
  • Supporting cleanliness and presentation of buildings and external areas.
  • Assisting with health and safety checks, including fire safety and security inspections.
  • Setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for meetings and events.
  • Monitoring contractors on site and ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Assisting with site security, responding to alarms and emergencies when required.
  • Ensuring pathways and entrances remain safe and accessible.
  • Monitoring stock levels of site supplies and reporting replenishment needs.

We are looking for a reliable, proactive and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our Facilities Team. This is a varied and rewarding role, responsible for supporting the smooth running of the school site and ensuring it remains safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors. Working closely with colleagues across the school, you will contribute to creating a positive and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive.

Hours of Work: 27 hours per week, All year around. 2:30pm - 8.00pm Monday, 2.00pm to 8.00pm Tuesday to Friday (with a 30 minute break)

Working flexibly to support the operational needs of the school and undertaking other duties appropriate to the role.
