Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Catering Assistant to participate in the daily operation of the Catering Unit under the guidance of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. The role involves basic food prep, simple cooking, serving meals, maintaining dining areas and promoting meals to pupils and parents.

You will work as part of a team, ensuring hygienic service, meeting deadlines and complying with school policies and legal requirements.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake job related training
• Effective communication skills to support team working and engagement with customers
• Good interpersonal and team working skills
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food
• Organising and controlling food service points
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks including transported meals
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and principal
• Maintaining regular contact with central kitchen regarding service delivery
• Preparing dining area and setting tables and serving points
• Completing kitchen and dining room duties including washing up and cleaning
• Recording temperatures for control purposes
• Completing duties in line with legal requirements and school policies
• Promoting and adhering to the Values/ethos of the School
