Job summary

School-Home Support is seeking a Family Support Practitioner to work at a Birmingham school, delivering casework to promote educational outcomes and improve attendance and engagement. You will collaborate with school staff and families to support children and carers in a structured program, including safeguarding responsibilities.

The role is term-time only with 5 days per week plus inset days, fixed term until 9 July 2027.

Qualifications

Experience in an education setting or similar to improve a child's school attendance and engagement in learning.
Engaging with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support.
Understanding factors affecting a child's capacity to learn.
Experience working with families from diverse communities.
Holistic family support.
Safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children.

Responsibilities

Based at the setting and work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families we support.
Focus on improving attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.
Build excellent relationships and communicate effectively with a wide group of people.
Contribute to safeguarding and welfare of children in line with policy.
