Job summary

School-Home Support is seeking a Family Support Practitioner to join our team at St John Wall Catholic School in Birmingham. The role is fixed-term until 9 July 2027, 5 days per week, term-time only plus inset days, with a salary between £23,232 and £25,862 per annum.

You will work closely with school staff to deliver targeted casework that improves attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning, and support families from diverse backgrounds while safeguarding children.

Qualifications

• Experience working in an education setting to improve attendance and engagement
• Ability to engage with families from diverse communities
• Knowledge of safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children

We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team and to make a difference in children's lives every single day. As the Family Support Practitioner, you will be based at the setting and work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families we support. You will also focus your support to help improve attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.

You will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with a wide group of people.

You’ll Have Previous Experience Of

• working in an education setting or similar to improve a child's school attendance and engagement in learning
• working and engaging with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
• factors affecting a child's capacity to learn
• working with families from diverse communities
• holistic family support
• safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children
