Job summary

GSL Education in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to monitor daily attendance, follow up absences, and collaborate with pupils, families and staff to remove barriers to regular attendance.

The role requires previous attendance officer experience, strong safeguarding knowledge, and excellent communication and organisational skills. You will contribute to safeguarding checks, maintain records, and support school-wide attendance improvement initiatives.

• Previous experience working as an Attendance Officer or in a similar education-based role.
• Strong understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding.

• Confidence when communicating with students, parents and school staff.
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• A proactive, reliable and approachable manner.
• Experience using school attendance systems is desirable.

Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you experienced in supporting school attendance and passionate about helping young people stay engaged with their education? A supportive school in Sheffield is looking for an experienced Attendance Officer to join its team.

About the Role

As an Attendance Officer, you will take an active role in monitoring and improving student attendance. You will work closely with pupils, families, teachers and pastoral staff to identify attendance concerns, follow up on absences and help remove barriers that may prevent students from attending school regularly.

• Have the right to work in the UK.

• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

• Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
