Job summary

Coba Education Ltd is recruiting an Attendance Officer for an immediate start at a welcoming secondary school in Northamptonshire. This is a temporary role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate, offering full-time hours (37 per week).

You will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams and families to promote excellent attendance, wellbeing and outcomes, while monitoring records, producing reports and supporting attendance improvement strategies.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Attendance Officer or similar role in a school setting.
• Demonstrable experience managing attendance systems, processes and reporting.
• Strong communication skills with students, families and staff.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage student attendance records and follow up absences.
• Maintain accurate attendance data and generate timely reports.
• Analyse attendance trends to inform improvement strategies.

Coba Education is working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Northamptonshire to recruit an Attendance Officer for an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, proactive individual who is passionate about improving student attendance, wellbeing and outcomes.

This position is initially temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

You will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams, safeguarding staff, SEND professionals and families to promote excellent attendance and support students who may be facing barriers to regular school attendance.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring and managing student attendance records
• Following up student absences and maintaining accurate attendance data
• Producing attendance reports and analysing trends
• Supporting attendance improvement strategies across the school
• Liaising with parents, carers and external agencies
• Supporting vulnerable students and those at risk of persistent absence
• Working alongside pastoral, safeguarding and inclusion teams to improve student outcomes
• Assisting with attendance meetings, interventions and action plans
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with school attendance procedures

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a confident and experienced Attendance Officer who can hit the ground running.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as an Attendance Officer within a school setting.
• Demonstrable experience managing school attendance systems, processes and procedures.
• Experience monitoring attendance data, producing reports and supporting attendance improvement strategies.
• Strong working knowledge of school management information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, carers and staff.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Important Information

This school requires applicants to have previous Attendance Officer experience within a school environment. Unfortunately, candidates without direct Attendance Officer experience will not be considered for this position, regardless of other school-based, pastoral or administrative experience.
