Job summary

Sanctuary Housing Association is seeking a Scheme Manager to join the Homeownership team within Sanctuary Independent Living Services. You will manage a private retirement properties site, oversee communal areas, and supervise contractors for cleaning, gardening and maintenance.

You will report on repairs, host meetings, monitor residents’ wellbeing and safety, and support budgeting and income recovery. DBS check will be paid for if you are successful.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C or above.
  • Experience working with older people in a support capacity.
  • Ability to interpret and maintain computerised information and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer care skills.
  • Full valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage residents to maintain wellbeing through high quality, safe housing services.
  • Meet legislative/regulatory requirements for housing services to ensure clean, safe homes.
  • Promote resident involvement and provide information on local community services.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and residents to address shortfalls.
  • Deliver high quality customer service by resolving problems or initiating resolution.
  • Provide administrative support, keep accurate records and support resales.
  • Assist Housing Officer with budgets, accounts and income recovery; liaise with Home Office on illegal working.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Scheme Manager to join our Homeownership team, which sits within Sanctuary Independent Living Services (SILS), and work alongside a team of 11 Scheme Managers. In this role, you will be managing a site of private retirement properties consisting of flats, houses and bungalows. As Scheme Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the communal areas of the buildings, including managing contractors for cleaning, gardening, and maintenance. You will also be responsible for reporting and monitoring repairs, hosting coffee meetings, joining resident meetings as well as monitoring the wellbeing and safety of the residents. The role of Scheme Manager - Homeownership will include:

  • Encourage residents to maintain their well-being and independence through the effective delivery of high quality, safe and value for money housing support services
  • Meet all legislative and regulatory requirements for housing services activities to ensure clean and safe homes for the Group's customers
  • Promote resident involvement and provide information on local community services and agencies to promote well being and independence
  • Effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders, service providers including contractors and residents, identifying any shortfalls in service delivery and ensuring they are dealt with appropriately
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality customer service by resolving problems and complaints or setting into motion the means of resolution
  • Provide administrative support for the delivery of high quality and value for money housing services, including maintaining accurate records and supporting resales
  • Assist the Housing Officer with the setting and monitoring of budgets and accounts and support effective income recovery, We work closely with the Home Office in order to prevent illegal working.

A basic Disclosure and Barring Service check will be necessary in the event of a successful application which we will pay for. Sanctuary Housing Association, an exempt charity.

  • Numeracy and literacy to the equivalent of GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Some experience of working with older people in a support capacity and understanding their individual needs or similar
  • Working knowledge of the key needs and services available to residents
  • Some experience of problem solving and implementing effective solutions, including referrals as needed
  • Working knowledge of handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to interpret and maintain computerised information and documentation
  • Good interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Occasional travel may be a requirement of the role; therefore a full valid driving license is essential

  • Role salary is £24,654 (rising to £25,416 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
  • The full time equivalent salary for this role is £26,415 based on 37.5 hours per week rising to £27,232 after 12 months service and subject to satisfactory performance
