We have an opportunity for a Scheme Manager to join our team of 7 across the South East, reporting to a Housing Officer within Sanctuary Independent Living.

This role involves supporting the day-to-day management of a retirement housing scheme for residents aged 55 and over. It is a varied position that combines administration, housing management, resident engagement, and welfare support. Although the role is predominantly lone working, there is strong team support through Microsoft Teams, regular team meetings, and a buddy system, ensuring colleagues remain connected and supported. They will also play an important role in building a positive community by hosting coffee mornings, attending resident meetings, and encouraging participation in activities.

A key aspect of the role is supporting vulnerable residents through regular welfare calls and providing a friendly, customer-focused service. Strong communication, organisational skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload are essential.

The role of Scheme Manager will include:
  • Meeting all legislative and regulatory requirements for housing services activities to ensure clean and safe homes for the Group’s customers, including undertaking compliance testing, risk assessments and scheme inspections and ensuring faults are reported and monitored
  • Promoting resident involvement and provide information on local community services and agencies to promote wellbeing and independence
  • Effectively managing relationships with key stakeholders, service providers including contractors and residents, identifying any shortfalls in service delivery and ensuring they are dealt with appropriately. This may include consultations for service improvements, resolving problems or setting into motion the means of resolution, ensuring customers are kept informed
  • Coordinating the delivery of local services to ensure the scheme(s) are maintained and kept clean and secure, in accordance with Group standards and lease obligations. Monitoring contractor performance, take appropriate action and elevate more complex issues as appropriate
Skills and experiences:
  • Some experience of working with older people in a support capacity and understanding their individual needs or similar
  • Working knowledge of the key needs and services available to residents
  • Working knowledge of good practice resident involvement or customer participation activities and practices
  • Some experience of problem solving and implementing effective solutions, including referrals as needed
  • Working knowledge of handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Occasional travel may be a requirement of the role; therefore, a full valid driving licence is essential
