Job summary

Wolseley UK, via Plumb Centre, is seeking a Sales Assistant at our Gateshead branch (NE11 0JY) to help trade customers with expert product advice and friendly service.

You will handle enquiries by phone and email, drive local sales, support stock management, and occasionally assist with deliveries within a 20 mile radius. A positive attitude and team spirit are essential.

Qualifications

• A Driving Licence is essential.
• Plumbing & Heating knowledge is ideal.
• Previous Face to Face sales and customer service experience.
• Warehouse experience.
• The ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
• To be a team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch.
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic.
• To be comfortable lifting heavy items.

Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their needs and providing advice and product recommendations.
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude.
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business.
• Identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers.
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock, put-away and picking/packing orders.
• Providing cover for the driver when out of the business driving a 3.5T automatic van within a 20 mile radius.

As a Sales Assistant based in our Gateshead branch you’ll be responsible for:

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets
• Providing cover for the driver when out of the business driving a 3.5T automatic van making deliveries to customers within a 20 mile radius of the branch

This is a full time time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07.30am - 4.30pm and alternate Saturday mornings 08.00am - 12.00pm.
