Job summary

Plumb Centre in Walton-on-Thames is hiring a Sales Assistant to help customers on the trade counter, understand their needs and recommend suitable products.

This full‑time role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays, offering a £26,695 base salary plus bonus and a range of benefits through Wolseley.

You should have prior face‑to‑face customer service or sales experience, be a team player, proactive and eager to learn.

Qualifications

• Face-to-face customer service or sales experience is essential.
• Prior industry or trade experience is advantageous.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and to take on a diverse role.
• Proactive and eager to learn, demonstrating a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing product recommendations.
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude.
• Proactively contacting customers to build relationships and drive branch sales particularly focusing on customers with reduced or inactive spending.
• Assisting with general warehouse duties including picking & packing customer orders, unpacking and putting away deliveries which will involve manual handling of heavy items e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets.
• Ensuring high standards are maintained in the branch.

As a Sales Assistant based in Walton-on-Thames you’ll be responsible for:

This is a full time permanent role working 40 hours per week Monday - Friday between 08.30am - 5.00pm and the occasional Saturday 08.00am - 12.00pm.
