Job summary

The Manchester College, part of the LTE Group, is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Practitioner to protect and empower students across the City Campus Manchester. You will collaborate with staff and external agencies to identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns in a busy further education setting.

This permanent, full-time role offers 35 hours per week, a strong pension, and opportunities to contribute to an inclusive learning environment while supporting vulnerable learners.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Coaching / Mentoring / Teaching or Social/Youth Work.
• Level 2 English and Maths.
• Experience with Young People or Vulnerable Adults.
• Experience of safeguarding and/or welfare support to children, young people or vulnerable adults.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
• Strong coaching, mentoring and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Flexible, creative and solution focussed approach to completing tasks.
• Empathy with Young People and / or Vulnerable Adults.
• Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion principles.
• Understanding of safeguarding and welfare issues in line with current legislation.
• Experience of project planning and report writing.

We’re looking for a dedicated Safeguarding Practitioner to play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students across the college. This is a vital position at the heart of our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus Manchester to join our Foundation Learning and Student Support Department as a Safeguarding Practitioner on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in a relevant subject - Coaching / Mentoring /Teaching or Social/Youth Work.
• Hold Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
• Experience of working or volunteering with Young People and / or Vulnerable Adults.
• Experience of providing safeguarding and/or welfare support to children, young people or vulnerable adults.
• A good level of IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
• Strong coaching, mentoring and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Flexible, creative and solution focussed approach to completing tasks.
• Empathy with Young People and / or Vulnerable Adults.
• Experience of forming and maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with Young People and / or Vulnerable Adults.
• Ability to display emotional resilience when faced with challenging behaviours.
• An awareness and understanding or equality, diversity and inclusion.
• An awareness and understanding of issues relating to the safeguarding and promotion of welfare of Young People and / or Vulnerable Adults, in accordance with current legislation.
• Experience of project planning and report writing.
