Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician for a night shift in Glasgow. The role involves attending roadside breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and performing mechanical/electrical repairs at the roadside for a national breakdown company.

You will work 40 hours weekly with shifts 6am–12pm, overtime at x1.5 or fixed overtime, and enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including pension and life cover.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• At least 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience (workshop or mobile).
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points (no bans).

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and diagnose faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside mechanical and electrical repairs (battery, tire, minor engine work).
• Use diagnostic tools and provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible.

Pay / salary: £42,921.87 OTE: In Excess of £53,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Shift and schedulefor the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
