Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to provide expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.

You’ll work on-demand shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with overtime options, and benefit from a structured development pathway that includes IMI accreditation to grow your diagnostic capabilities.

Starting salary £36,400 with a realistic OTE around £61,000; top performers can earn more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK
• Diagnose faults independently and provide quick, confident solutions for members
• Undergo a structured development pathway with IMI accreditation to grow diagnostic capability
• Work demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week with optional overtime

Education
