Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician based in the Chelmsford area to keep drivers moving. You’ll perform mechanical roadside repairs and diagnostics, deliver emergency breakdown support, and work to get members back on the road quickly.

You’ll develop technical skills through a structured pathway, with IMI accreditation opportunities and support for ongoing learning. Expect demand-led shifts, home starts/finishes, and a strong progression path within the Patrol division.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance with 2+ years' experience.
• Or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Diagnose faults independently and reassure members.
