Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician for a national breakdown company serving millions of members. Based in Chesterfield, the role offers a great salary with overtime and bonus opportunities and requires field-based, on-the-go work around the region.

You will work full time, 40 hours weekly, with early shifts. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, performing roadside repairs, and guiding members on next steps, while ensuring safety in diverse conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside mechanical/electrical repairs including battery changes and wheel changes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and options for repair.
• Provide temporary solutions to keep members mobile until full repair.
• Advise members on next steps and recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments.

Roadside Technician (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

£36,400 OTE: Up to £60,000

Shift and schedule

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.

• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

What you’ll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
