Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Roadside Technician (field based) in the Chesterfield area to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. Earn a strong salary with overtime, bonus opportunities, and full-time permanent employment.

40 hours per week, shifts 6am–12pm, with overtime at 1.5x and fixed overtime options. Includes excellent benefits and progression opportunities within a national network.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or Level 3 qualification.
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside mechanical and electrical repairs (battery changes, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible to keep members mobile.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Job description

Roadside Technician (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Pay / salary:£36,400 OTE: Up to £60,000

Job type:Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedulefor the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
