Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited seeks a Roadside Technician (field based) in Leeds to perform roadside repairs and diagnostics for a national breakdown company. The role offers a strong base salary with substantial OTE and overtime opportunities, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

You will travel to breakdowns, diagnose faults, perform essential repairs at the roadside, and guide members on next steps, including recovery if needed. A valid UK licence is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair; Level 3 preferred.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Customer-focused approach and safe working practices.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points (no bans).

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible to keep members mobile.
• Advise members on next steps including recovery if needed.

Job description

Roadside Technician (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location: Leeds

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

What you’ll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
