We’ll look to you to help lead the store team – coaching and supervising our Customer Team Members and deputising for the Store Manager, while also delivering great customer service and performing a wide range of other tasks around the store like re-stocking shelves and cleaning up spillages.

At Co-op, we do things a different way. For over 175 years we’ve been focused on making things fairer for our members and their communities, and as a colleague we promise to take care of you. You’ll get support for your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, as well as market leading policies to help you through life events from bereavement and pregnancy loss to fertility treatment and menopause.

What you’ll do

  • Provide friendly and thoughtful service, managing the store and handling challenging situations.

  • Ensure that the store remains safe, legal, and fully operational.
  • Manage diligence checks and stock accuracy to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Support your store manager by deputising when they’re not working and delivering HR processes.
  • Lead the introduction of new products and services, working closely with your team to implement change and gather feedback.
  • Build relationships and participate in your local community, supporting the delivery of the local Co-op community plan.

This job would suit people who have

  • A genuine care for the needs of customers and members.
  • The ability to balance leading and supporting your team and working on the shop floor.
  • Great people skills for building positive relationships.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A desire to learn and develop leadership skills.
  • The flexibility to work various shifts.

Why Co-op?

  • Full, paid training and support for career development.
  • 30% discount on all Co-op products, plus additional discounts.
  • A pension scheme with up to 10% employer contributions.
  • Wagestream app for early access to a portion of your pay.
  • 36 days holiday including bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time).
  • Virtual healthcare services for you and your family.
  • 24/7 employee assistance service.
  • Rota sharing three weeks in advance via mobile.
  • Cycle-to-work scheme.
