Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock in a busy retail store. You will deter theft, patrol floors, monitor CCTV and respond to incidents while delivering friendly service.

The role requires a valid SIA license, excellent observation and communication skills, and the ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and bank holidays. You will liaise with management and support the wider security team.

Qualifications

• Valid SIA Licence – DS or Security Guarding required.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Calm, professional approach to de-escalate situations.
• Excellent reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visible security presence within the store, deterring theft and anti-social behaviour.
• Conduct regular patrols of the store premises, ensuring safety and security at all times.
• Monitor CCTV and other security equipment to identify and respond to suspicious activities.
• Carry out searches of individuals in line with company policies.
• Respond to alarms and incidents promptly, escalating to management or law enforcement as needed.
• Complete detailed incident and observation reports.
• Liaise with store management and staff to address security concerns.
• Provide professional customer service and assist customers with queries.
