Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock in a retail environment. You will be a visible deterrent, patrol the store, monitor CCTV and respond to incidents with excellent customer service.

The role requires a valid SIA licence, right to work in the UK and DBS/BS7858 clearance. Shifts are Monday–Saturday 14:00–22:00 and Sunday 10:00–20:00, with flexibility for weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK required.
• DBS and BS7858 security clearance may be required.
• Valid SIA Licence (DS or Security Guarding) and security experience.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Calm and professional under pressure in difficult situations.
• Excellent verbal and written reporting and communication.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft and antisocial behaviour.
• Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity.
• Respond to alarms and incidents; escalate where required.
• Conduct searches in line with procedures when necessary.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Collaborate with store management on security matters.
• Provide a professional, approachable presence to customers and staff.
• Assist customers and staff with queries and concerns.
• De-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Follow site procedures, company policies and legal requirements.
• Support the wider team with additional duties as needed.
