Job summary

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Resident Engagement Officer to join the Asset Management and Improvement Team. The role focuses on amplifying resident voices and shaping housing services to improve neighbourhoods.

You will build strong relations with tenants and community groups, promote building safety awareness, and support service improvements through inclusive engagement activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering services to tenants, leaseholders, residents or community groups in diverse environments.
• Experience engaging residents and promoting involvement through community development approaches.
• Experience collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders including agencies and partner organisations.
• Knowledge of community development principles and resident engagement practices.
• Understanding of housing management, building safety, compliance or asset management issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
• Strong organisational skills to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience organising engagement events and consultations.
• Proficiency in presenting information using reports, presentations and digital channels.
• Experience using social media and digital engagement tools to boost participation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver resident engagement and consultation activities that encourage participation and involvement.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with tenants, leaseholders, residents, community groups, and partner agencies.
• Promote awareness and understanding of building safety, compliance, and asset management programmes.
• Support residents to influence service improvements through formal and informal engagement opportunities.
• Organise and facilitate meetings, events, workshops, focus groups, and community initiatives.
• Gather, analyse, and present resident feedback to support service development and continuous improvement.
• Develop engaging communications using digital platforms, social media, newsletters, and other channels.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to improve outcomes for residents and communities.
• Maintain accurate records and produce reports on engagement activity and outcomes.
