Job description

Support Our School. Make a Difference.

Every great school relies on skilled, organised and dedicated staff working behind the scenes.

At Wallington County Grammar School, we are seeking a committed Reprographics Officer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the school.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the daily life of the school, providing essential support that enables pupils, staff and the wider school community to thrive. Your work will have a meaningful impact on creating a positive and successful learning environment.

About the Role

The post holder will undertake high-volume printing, copying, laminating, binding, cutting, assembling, collating, folding, stapling, punching, and trimming for all teaching and non-teaching staff within agreed timescales. The role involves operating heavy-duty machinery, including photocopiers, punches, and guillotines, while keeping all reprographics machinery clean and in good working order. You will advise users of the status of machines and provide support and alternatives when needed.

Responsibilities include arranging regular servicing of equipment, reporting any necessary repairs or replacements, and scheduling service engineers to undertake repairs promptly. The post holder will order paper supplies and other sundries for the whole school to ensure the efficient operation of the reprographics service and value for money, as well as providing a scanning service for staff.

Key duties involve photocopying examination papers in preparation for internal exams and photocopying test papers for the Selective Eligibility Test in the Autumn term. You will maintain a stock of AfL sheets and Target Grade stickers for the staff room, and design and develop a variety of materials for events, including programmes, tickets, leaflets, posters, and signage.

Additional responsibilities include assisting students with printing coursework and producing tickets and posters for school events, as well as assisting with the photocopying of whole-school letters. The post holder will evaluate and manage their own workload, identifying hotspots when necessary, and ensure that reprographics remains a safe, healthy, and secure environment by liaising with the Health & Safety representative as appropriate.

We are looking for an individual who:

Candidates must hold English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above. Relevant experience for this post includes previous reprographics experience, experience in designing a range of printed materials, prior work in an educational setting, and strong administrative experience.

Required knowledge and skills include an excellent understanding of Google and Microsoft Office packages with a willingness to learn new systems, alongside excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Applicants should possess the ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands, as well as knowledge of Health & Safety issues—including manual handling, safe working practices with hazardous equipment, and lifting heavy objects. Adaptability and flexibility in working practices, along with a willingness to undertake training appropriate to the role, are essential.

Key personal attributes include a high degree of professionalism in approach to work set, and a friendly, professional, and respectful manner that demonstrates support and mutual respect. The successful candidate will present a good role model to students, maintain a good sense of humour and be deeply committed to the safeguarding of children.
