Job summary

SSE Renewables is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of major onshore/offshore renewables projects across the UK, Ireland and Europe. In this role you will contribute from early-stage electrical system design through substations, grid connections, wind turbines and grid compliance, working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with progression towards Chartered Engineer status or similar registration.
• Experience in renewable energy, wind generation, electricity transmission, distribution or related sectors.
• Understanding of standards, legislation and best practices for electrical infrastructure and substations.
• Awareness of commercial, technical, and operational factors influencing project delivery.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of electrical engineering design activities, including development of specifications, scopes of work and contract documentation for substations and electrical balance of plant packages.
• Prepare, review and update technical documentation for substations and wind turbines, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
• Participate in FATs and SATs, supporting verification and commissioning of major electrical systems across complex renewables projects.
• Collaborate with project teams, contractors and suppliers to coordinate engineering activities and resolve technical issues.
• Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement across the Electrical Engineering function.
