Job summary

SSE Renewables is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering Team, delivering design and construction support for large onshore and offshore wind projects across the UK and Europe.

You will help shape electrical systems from early development through substations, grid connections, turbines, and protection schemes, with travel to project locations as required. A Chartered Engineer status or progress toward it is expected, along with strong HV experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with Chartered status or on track toward chartership.
• Experience in substation layout design and primary plant specifications.
• Knowledge of testing up to 400 kV and grid connection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical design activities including substation and balance of plant specifications.
• Prepare and review technical specs for substations and wind turbines with compliance checks.
• Support FATs/SATs for major electrical components and systems across onshore/offshore projects.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to drive project delivery.
• Promote continuous improvement and best practice within Electrical Engineering.
