Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking an experienced z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer to join a UK/Europe team, with the option for fully remote work and occasional travel to Sheffield.

The role focuses on installation, upgrade, maintenance, and support of the IBM z/OS operating system and related products in large, mission-critical environments such as banking and financial services. Strong Sysplex skills and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in z/OS Systems Programming.
• Deep knowledge of: z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, RACF.
• Experience with Parallel Sysplex implementation and large enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems.
• Manage IBM and CA/Broadcom system software across enterprise environments.
• Plan and execute operating system upgrades and software maintenance using SMP/E.
• Administer and support Parallel Sysplex environments for high availability.
• Provide after-hours support for production changes and incidents.
• Create documentation and runbooks; mentor junior staff.
