Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to define the long-term data engineering strategy for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain and build scalable data platforms that support analytics, ML, and subscriber experiences. You will partner across product, engineering, data science, and analytics teams to deliver durable data solutions, mentor engineers, and improve data quality and governance.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
• Experience building reliable distributed data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of modern data modeling, metadata management, governance, and data quality practices.
• Ability to influence technical direction through collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term data engineering strategy for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain.
• Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms powering analytics, experimentation, ML, and subscriber experiences.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to translate business challenges into durable data solutions.
• Lead architectural decisions and establish best practices for data quality, governance, observability, and reliability.
• Design data models and platform architecture to support growth toward one billion users.
• Reduce technical debt and improve developer experience across the data ecosystem.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of thoughtful engineering.
