You will mentor engineers, define strategy, and drive data quality and governance while balancing performance and cost as Spotify continues to grow toward one billion users.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
• Deep expertise building reliable distributed data pipelines with Scio, BigQuery, Dataflow, GCS, SQL, Python.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, metadata management, governance, and data quality practices.
• Ability to balance immediate business needs with long-term architectural sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term data engineering strategy for the domain.
• Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms powering analytics and ML.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams.
• Lead architectural decisions and engineering best practices for data quality and observability.
• Design data models and platform architecture for scalable growth to one billion users.
• Reduce technical debt and improve developer experience across the data ecosystem.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of thoughtful engineering.
