Spotify is seeking a Staff Data Engineer for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain to shape the long‑term data strategy, lead architectural decisions, and build scalable data platforms powering analytics, experimentation, and subscriber health for hundreds of millions of users.

You will partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to turn complex business challenges into durable data solutions, mentor engineers, and maintain high standards of data quality

Qualifications

Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence across teams without formal authority.
Experience leading architectural decisions and establishing data quality, governance, and observability practices.

Responsibilities

Define and drive long-term data engineering strategy for Subscriptions User Understanding domain.
Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms for analytics, experimentation, ML, and subscriber experiences.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to translate business challenges into durable data solutions.
Lead architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices for data quality and reliability across squads.
Design data models and platform architecture to support growth toward one billion users.
Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of thoughtful engineering and knowledge sharing.
