Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Staff Data Engineer for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain to define the long-term data strategy and build scalable platforms that power analytics, experimentation, and subscriber health at scale.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science and Platform teams, and drive architectural excellence to support Spotify's growth and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
• Strong track record with distributed data pipelines.
• Knowledge of data modeling, metadata management, governance, and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term data engineering strategy for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain.
• Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms that power analytics, experimentation, ML, and subscriber experiences.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to turn complex business challenges into durable data solutions.
• Lead architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices for data quality, governance, observability, reliability, and operational excellence across multiple squads.
• Design data models and platform architecture that support growth toward one billion users.
• Simplify complex systems, reduce technical debt, and improve the developer experience across the data ecosystem.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of thoughtful engineering and knowledge sharing.
